3nd WCACA Calligraphy Competition 2023

Introduction

Chinese Calligraphy is a way to cultivate one's artistic sense in Chinese traditional culture. It can also train the patience and concentration of oneself. We hope to encourage more children and teenagers to practice penmanship by organising this competition.

Category

Chinese Calligrahy, Chinese Penmanship and English Penmanship(3 categories are individually judged. Participants can join all at the same time. )

Chinese Calligraphy

Group

Junior Primary Group (P1-P3)

Senior Primary Group (P4-P6) 
Junior Secondary Group (S1-S3)


(The group is counted by the grade on the deadline.)

Entries Requirement 

  • For Junior and Senior Primary Group, please write on the nine-square grid paper which is not exceeding 26 x 58 cm;

  • For Junior Secondary Group, please write on Xuan paper which is not exceeding 35 x 70 cm.

  • Finish the entry according to the topic provided. The characters of the entry should be vertically written in column from top to bottom and right to left. The font of the calligraphy is not limited.

  • Must use a brush to complete the work.

  • Please use a pencil to write the participant's name and application number on the back of the work. It is not allowed to sign on the front of the work.

Entries Requirement

  • Print the writing paper with the relavant topic on white A4 paper, and write all the content in the appropriate space. The font of the penmanship is not limited.

  • Entries of Kindergarten Group and Junior Primary Group must be written in pencils; entries of Senior Primary Group and Junior Secondary Group can be written in ballpoint pens, fountain pens, roller pens, and gel pens (both blue and black ink are acceptable). Erasable ballpoint pens, correction fluid, and correction tape are not allowed.

English Penmanship
1.  Font Style 30% 
2.  Accuracy 30% 
3.  Interval Arrangement 30%

Awards

Gold Award 20%, Silver Award 25%, Bronze Award 30% (Awarded with electronic certificate)

2. After completing the registration, you will receive a confirmation email including the application number immediately. Please mark the application number and name of the contestant in the appropriate space (please refer to relavant details above).

Terms and Conditions

  1. If the entries are found to be counterfeit, plagiarized, or ghostwritten, they will be disqualified.

  2. Each contestant can participate in all category at the same time, and only one entry can be submitted for each category. All categories will be judged independently.

  3. Hard copy certificate is $120 each.

  4. Entries must be original and unpublished, and must not infringe the copyrights of others.

  5. Please ensure the Chinese and English name, group and email address of the contestant is correct when registering. This information will be used on the electronic certificate or competition notifications. If there is any change after registeration an administrative fee of $50 will be charged.

  6. Please note that the competition information will be directly sent to the group (those who filled in group registration form) and no individual notification will be made.

  7. All entries will not be returned after registration. All entries will be selected by the judging panel, and the contestants shall not object.

  8. The organizer has the right to use all submitted entries for publication, online distribution, public exhibition, etc.

  9. Participants shall be fully responsible for any related legal actions, claims and expenses arising from the infringement of intellectual property rights by their entries.

  10. The organizer reserves the right to modify the terms and conditions without prior notice.

  11. All participants are deemed to agree to abide by the rules of this competition.
